About the Faculty

Dean of Faculty: Prof.Mahmoud Al Sobh

Faculty of Arts was established alongside the university inauguration in 2009 under the name of the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences. The faculty stablished the departments of Arabic Language and Literature and Special Education. The faculty received the first batch of students in these two departments at the beginning of the first semester of the academic year 2009/2010. The department of psychological counseling was established in 2010. Since the department received the first batch of students in this department at the beginning of the first semester of the academic year 2010/2011. English language and Literature department was established in 2011. The department received the first batch of students in this department at the beginning of the first semester of the academic year 2011/2012. According to the decision of the Council of Higher Education on 11/13/2014, it was approved to establish The Department of university requirements and basic sciences as of the first semester of the academic year 2014/2015, The department provides university requirements and basic science courses.

The Faculty of Arts works to provide original and distinguished study programs that keep pace with new developments in the fields of languages, literature and humanities. It also seeks to achieve a distinguished cultural and scientific presence by organizing events, specific scientific and cultural activities and scientific conferences that provide students and teachers with knowledge and experience, and qualify them to contribute to development, community culture and fruitful human communication through its programs based on human knowledge heritage, keeping pace with new developments in the fields of languages, literature and various humanities, and qualifying specialized distinguished graduates in specialized fields that is offered by the faculty.

The Faculty of Arts has always sought to develop and expand various scientific activities. As the number of departments in this faculty and the number of faculty members increased, the university decided to separate educational sciences from arts into two separate faculties. The Faculty of Arts has been working to raise the name of faculty of arts, languages and social humanities. It has become the Faculty of Arts, which includes the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, the Department of University Requirements and Basic Sciences, and the Department of History, which was established in 2020/2021.

Due to the university’s capabilities, infrastructure, and qualified staff, the Master of Arabic Language and Literature program was established in the first semester of the academic year 2022/2023 to provide specialized students with competencies that enable them to work in different institutions and in research and study centers, in addition to providing teaching staff locally, regionally, and internationally.

The Faculty of Arts continues to carry the mission of Ajloun National University in the science, enlightenment and human knowledge. The faculty of Arts at Ajloun National University participates with the other faculties of Arts in different universities locally, regionally, and internationally So that our students remain present in the global human knowledge.

Mission

Excellent academic programs to prepare students who are cognitively qualified in the fields of arts and humanities, and to provide them with skills, trends and values related to the requirements of the labor market locally and regionally, and has quality and excellence in the fields of research and community service.

Strategic Objectives

  1. Raising the scientific level of graduates of the Faculty of Arts to make them distinguished and qualified to produce knowledge and compete in the labor market.
  2. Developing the academic and professional performance of faculty members in the faculty.
  3. Developing joint cooperation between the faculty, the local community, and the faculties of arts in other Jordanian and regional universities.
  4. Developing programs and study plans in accordance with the requirements of the labor market, quality and accreditation requirements.
  5. Preparing the faculty for the continuity of accreditation and ensuring the quality of its programs.
  6. Conducting a periodic review of programs and plans to keep pace with the developments  locally, regionally and globally.
