About the Department

Ajloun National University seeks to develop a bachelor’s program in cyber security and cloud computing to complement other disciplines and educational programs in the Faculty of Information Technology in order to achieve the vision and mission of Ajloun National University, which is to build a knowledge society, improve scientific research and provide academic programs to prepare a qualified human resource that meets the needs of the future and contributes to the development of the local community.

The Bachelor’s program in Cybersecurity and Cloud Computing came in implementation of the royal directives to keep pace with the development of technology and computer science in developed countries in the world in various fields and to meet the needs of the local, regional and global market.

The undergraduate program in Cybersecurity and Cloud Computing contributes to achieving the university’s desire to continue its leading role in the field of specialized education and preparing qualified cadres in the field of information technology at various levels in order to respond to the needs of the Jordanian and regional market.

The development of the program was studied after studying the reality of the local and global market, in addition to encouraging the opinion of private sector institutions and the opinions of faculty members with academic and practical experience in similar research fields, the increase in the number and severity of cybercrime, and due to the urgent need for this specialization due to the increasing reliance on computers, Internet and smart devices in general in identifying and predicting responses to threats in cyber security and information security risks in light of the technological revolution. As mentioned above, it was found that there is an urgent need to introduce such a program to support the local and regional labor market Hungry graduates who have knowledge of the principles and basics of cyber security and cloud computing, obtaining, treating and analyzing them. Cybersecurity is one of the most attractive jobs in the 21st century.

It is worth noting that cybersecurity jobs are among the best paid jobs in the information technology sector locally, regionally and globally. The cybersecurity and cloud computing program qualifies its students by providing them with general skills in computer science, basic security skills, concepts and principles, covering legal, professional and ethical issues, in addition to a practical technical perspective (collecting, saving, and providing digital investigation using tools and evidence, and then identifying and repairing security gaps).

Cybersecurity and cloud computing are widely applicable in different fields, to work in a variety of jobs in the technology sector, the telecommunications sector, and the financial services sector, specifically e-commerce, commercial and industrial consulting, marketing, insurance companies and scientific research, or even completing master’s and doctoral studies in related disciplines. In addition, specialists in cybersecurity science and cloud computing are needed to work in the security of sensitive data, protecting databases, websites and devices connected to the Internet from harmful breaches, sports analysis and analysis Data from social media and networking platforms, by developing and building algorithms, models and attack and hacking techniques and extracting knowledge from them to interpret the past and present and predict the future.

The aim of cyber security and cloud computing is to ensure the availability and continuity of the operation of the information system, and to enhance the protection, confidentiality and privacy of personal data, while taking all necessary measures to protect citizens and consumers from potential risks in various areas of Internet use in the age of technology. Information security in cyberspace has become the biggest role in preventing any network attacks that may be exposed to systems in different places in addition to protecting the operating system from attempting unauthorized access to inappropriate targets.
