The General Secretariat of the Arab Universities Union announced the establishment of an advanced Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Center at Ajloun National University during its twentieth meeting. In this context, HE Dr. Amro Salama, the Secretary-General of the Arab Universities Union, emphasized the importance of this center, highlighting its role in enhancing technological advancements in higher education and connecting educational outputs to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He commended Ajloun National University for adopting advanced initiatives that contribute to the development of higher education in the region. The establishment of this center at Ajloun National University aims to be a vital hub contributing to the elevation and development of emerging technologies, reflecting the university’s commitment to keeping pace with modern technologies and improving the quality of education.
Prof. Dr. Firas Al- Hanandeh, the President of Ajloun National University, pointed out that this step is part of the efforts of the Arab Universities Union to promote collaboration among various Arab universities, encourage digital transformation, and enhance the role of artificial intelligence in educational institutions. He stressed that this announcement reflects the commitment of Arab universities to innovation and technology, highlighting the Union’s role in directing efforts towards tangible progress in the fields of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in educational institutions in the Arab region.
Prof. Dr. Firas Al-Hanandeh emphasized the crucial role of academic institutions in promoting and improving the educational level in universities, considering them as effective executive bodies playing vital strategic roles aligned with the vision, plans, and programs of the Union. He highlighted the significance of the Arab Universities Union, considering it an active arm of the Arab League of Nations, leading in various specialized councils that have laid the foundations for cooperation and coordination in their respective sectors.
Al- Hanandeh expressed his sincere appreciation for the efforts made by the Arab Universities Union and the support provided by the Secretary-General of the Arab Universities Union, HE Dr. Amro Salama, for the activities of the Union. He commended their adoption of the idea of establishing the “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Center.” This initiative aims to strengthen cooperation among Arab universities and coordinate efforts between universities and relevant regional and international institutions, especially in line with the advancements in education technologies and modern learning methods.
He noted that the focus on the quality of higher education in the Arab world is a response to common Arab visions towards empowering the concept of quality and its necessity in improving the outcomes of higher education. Our educational institutions have deliberately given great importance to this crucial point and demonstrated utmost care. He confirmed that this meeting represents an honorable milestone, giving importance to the significant efforts exerted by researchers for the betterment of their societies. It underscores the desired modernization of educational programs.
At the end of the meeting, participants, including heads of Arab universities, congratulated Ajloun National University on this achievement. They expressed their willingness to collaborate and partner with the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Center. The participants praised the significant role played by the Arab Universities Union in supporting the journey of these institutions affiliated with the Union.
